As electronic control devices for controlling liquid flow in various application fields, two types of equipment, electric ball valve and solenoid valve, are the most common and commonly used in practice. So, what is the difference between an electric ball valve and a solenoid valve?


1. The leakage problem of electric ball valve and solenoid valve


The action principle of the electric ball valve is angular stroke, double-sided sealing, good sealing performance and not easy to leak. The action principle of the solenoid valve is a straight stroke, which is a diaphragm or a pilot type. The purity of the seal facing the medium is very high, and impurities in the medium can easily cause leakage.


2. Installation position requirements of electric ball valve and solenoid valve


Electric ball valve has no requirement for installation angle. The solenoid valve operates on the principle of straight stroke. The sealing needs to be realized by the gravity of the valve core and the force of the electromagnet. Therefore, the solenoid valve can only be installed horizontally. Installation at other angles will cause the solenoid valve to leak.


3. Service life of electric ball valve and solenoid valve


After the electric ball valve actuator switch is in place, it will be powered off by the internal micro switch, and it has the function of maintaining the station. It only needs to be powered when it is in action, and the motor will not be charged after it is in place. The electric ball valve has a longer service life than the solenoid valve, and its performance Stablize.


The opening and closing of the solenoid valve depends on the energization of the coil to act. When the station is maintained, the coil needs to be energized all the time (for example, the normally closed solenoid valve needs to be opened for a long time).


4. The protection level of electric ball valve and solenoid valve


The electric ball valve actuator is protected by the shell, and the protection level is IP65/IP67. Dust and moisture can basically not corrode the inside of the actuator, and the performance is relatively stable. The solenoid valve has a simple structure and a low protection level, and is easily affected by external dust, air and temperature.


5. The cost difference between electric ball valve and solenoid valve


The electric ball valve is normal pressure for 1.6MPa, the ball valve can reach 13MPa, and the cost is not very different from 1.6MPa, especially the high-pressure cost has a great advantage over the solenoid valve, and the electric ball valve has a great advantage. For solenoid valves, 1.0MPa or more is considered to be medium and high pressure, and high-pressure solenoid valves are generally expensive.


In addition, electric ball valves and solenoid valves are also different in function. There is a manual operating device on the electric actuator, which can manually control the valve on/off, without the need to install a bypass backup. However, the general solenoid valve does not have manual operation function, and a bypass manual valve needs to be installed on the pipeline for backup.


The last thing to add is that the current industrial control system is used for precise control of liquid flow: electric ball valve, its action principle is precisely to use the characteristics of ordinary electric ball valve to have an intermediate action process, supplemented by electronic circuits (mostly in the form of single-chip microcomputers) to accurately control Rotational displacement of the motor - and then control the degree of opening/closing of the valve body to complete the action task requirements.
